Small Biotech and Large Hospital

Small Biotech and Large Hospital Want to Eliminate Common Cancers In oncology, most therapies are designed to combat cancer after it has already developed. A visionary Silicon Valley-based biotechnology company is now tackling cancer.

Anixa Biosciences, (ANIX:NASDAQ), has partnered up with the Cleveland Clinic in order to prevent breast cancer. The partners are working on a revolutionary technology for a vaccine that could eliminate the most common cancer in women.

The US FDA recently granted permission for human trials to be conducted to test the breast cancer vaccine. This technology was developed over the past decade. Human trials will begin in just a few weeks, in June/July of 2021.

Animal studies showed that it was possible to virtually eliminate cancer from mice designed specifically to develop breast cancer. It will be revolutionary if the human data comes close to that of animal studies.

This team includes scientists, clinicians and regulatory personnel. The team’s key members are Dr.

Vincent Tuohy is the inventor and lead of the technology. Dr. G. Thomas Budd will be the surgeon oncologist that will conduct the human trials. Dr. Amit Kumra, President and CEO of Anixa. The implications of the technology.

The cancer ecosystem can be huge if it is successful in humans. Consider the billions of dollars spent on diagnosing and treating breast cancer (including surgery and therapies). The vaccine that eradicates this malignancy is going to have a dramatic impact on healthcare costs.

This economic value is even more apparent when you consider the lost time from work for the patient, her family, and friends.

The R&D environment will also change dramatically for other cancer types. The majority of research will now focus on cancer prevention rather than treatment once malignancies have already developed.

It is always better to try and prevent a disease than to treat it after it has already arrived. It would be fascinating to imagine a world in which we give women a simple shot and eradicate this disease, just as we did with smallpox and polio.

Anixa, Cleveland Clinic, and the medical industry will all be closely watching their progress. We are all behind the project, because it has the power to change the world.
